2017 Explorer Platinum
I am currently looking at a 2017 Platinum. Whit on white. There are no pictures of it and it has not been delivered to the dealership yet due to a recall issue. I'm trying to figure out if it has the bucket seat in the second row or the 60/40 split seats. "Bucket seats" are not listed on the window sticker I saw on line, or in any equipment lists for the truck that I have seen The only reference to the second row I found was through a VIN decoder. It only says "Front Center Armrest and Rear Center Armrest". Does this mean it does have bucket seats? I have seen pictures of the 60/40 split with a fold down armrest. Is this what it is referring to?

Thanks for any help.

My 2014 specifically states 2nd row dual bucket seats in the optional equipment on the window sticker.

Just out of curiosity, are you in MN and is the Explorer located at Lincoln of Bloomington?
If so, looking at the Canadian buyers guide for 2017 (that Ex originated in Ontario according to Carfax), it states 2nd row heated bucket seats are optional on the Platinum.

Yes and yes. It was stuck at the border for a looooong time waiting for parts from Ford to do the rear toe link recall.

I know they are an option. That was my question to the dealer. They(the sales manager) are telling me that they are confident that it has the bucket seats. But they are not listed on the window sticker. There are no pictures either. The paint and floor mats are listed. I personally don't think t this point that it has the buckets.

It's not a deal breaker.

Thank you.

My
Mom has a 2019’platinum with white on white
It was not easy for her to find one with second row buckets they all had the 60/40
Split
Eventually they found her one
She wanted the second row buckets so the kids can walk up and down the middle

Either way you get it they are wicked nice vehicles

I’m thinking after her experience that most of them were 60/40 and the second row buckets was more of something you order
It does look semi unfinished it looks like something is missing from her truck like a console.. but it is nice to have the open row down the middle for kids and dogs

Welcome to the Forum.
If it has a rear center armrest then it has the bench seat. BTW, I had a 2017 Platinum and it was a great vehicle. I had it on a 48 month lease and it went back to the dealer early after 36 months with 7500 miles on it. Drove away in a 2020 Aviator. ;)

That's what I thought. Not the end o the world. We are also looking at one with the same color combo but it does have the rear bucket seats, no enter armrest and dual DVD headrests. I don't need the DVD players but the seats are nice. We don't have kids or dogs so the bench is not needed. The only thing is it is a couple $K more with a few more miles on it. and it's out of state.

One advantage of the bench seat is that if you fold it down, there won't be a gap like you would have with the folded buckets.
BTW, you will also have DRL if it comes from Canada.

Those crazy Canadians!:crazy: Have to have their lights on all the time.:crazy:😁

I usually have my lights on too. <--- Have many relatives Up North. I actually lived in Ottawa for a year.

That's Crazy Canucks! :D

Good to know!

Are there any other differences in the Canadian models?
Yes, there are some but I can't recall them now. The Canadian models often contain standard features that are optional on U.S ones.

I was looking at the window stickers for the Canadian and US version of the Platinum., There are some items missing on the Canadian one.
There is no mention of Adaptive Cruise Control, Class III Tow Package, Active Park Assist, Lane Keeping System, Second Row Heated Seats, and more.
These are all supposed to be standard equipment. Are they going to be there, or were they not installed for some reason?

I have that same document. I was wondering why things were not listed on the Canadian window sticker but they are on the US sticker.

Lazy/Crazy Canucks!? :dunno:
I just checked my Window Sticker and it also does not list the item you mentioned. It does show Equipment Group 600A which likely includes all those items. Are the items on your Window Sticker listed under Optional Equipment?

@peterk9 They are not listed at all on the window sticker. Assuming you have these items but are not listed, maybe they just don't list everything. Apparently it's not required.

Equipment Group 600A is the options available. The only options listed are the Platinum white paint and All weather Floor mats.
