Dolly tow 1996 4.0 4WD

Can I tow a 1996 4.0 4WD backed onto a dolly with front tires on the ground? thanks.

Yes, but disconnect the front drive if it is an automatic.

It would be much safer to place the front end on the dolly and remove the rear drive shaft if it's an automatic. If you back it on the dolly and the front wheels don't lock dead center the explorer will crab and that's not a good thing. And as Dully noted you will have to remove the front drive shaft if backed on.
