So, my Ranger I have just bought (99 4x4 Supercab) constantly has it's DOOR AJAR light on and the interior light is almost always on.
For now I have pulled the bulbs out.

Does anyone know where the sensors for the system are ? I looked for old school push in types but didn't spot any - are the magnet style ones in the doors ?

Also spray the door latch...

Yes ! The WD40 trick worked perfectly.
A little in the lock and I was away.
I should have searched around a bit more before I posted, it seems like it's a common problem.

Thanks guys.

...i'm glad it worked for you too...:D

Keep up on spraying them. If not the light will come back on.
It's an easy replacement of the switches. There is one in each door, so 4 total. All you need to do is pull the door panel off and reach up in there a turn the switch and plug in the new one then put back together. It took me like 15 minutes the last time I did mine.

...i've got 9 mo.'s on my spraying the ranger and it's my daily driver...not counting i offroad it for fun and no problem yet...of course, if you are having frequent problems it could be your switch...;)

does that work with the 99 ranger stepside too?

I got tired of spraying and had to take the door panel apart and chop one of the wire to the switch, problem solved. The light doesn't come on when I open the driverside door. If I need light, I either reach overhead or just turn on the light switch on the dimmer.
