Door and Tailgate Latch

The driver side door will not open from the outside. It opens from the inside but not outside. Any ideas what would cause this? Right now I am getting in through the passenger side or reaching through to open the driver door. This is very inconvenient.

This may be a similar issue. My tailgate will not close once opened. The glass opens and closes with out issue. If I open the tailgate, I rarely if ever can close it. I also can't lock it. This lock moves down and appears to be locked but I can still open the door and the glass.

Any assistance on either or both issues would be greatly appreciated.

Plastic clips hold all the linkage together in the doors. There busted. You can get the clips in assorted packs for Ford at the AP store.
