I thought I'd post this information to everyone who has this problem, recently the drivers side door auto Lock/Unlock stopped working on my 97 Explorer, come to find out it was the Actuator that was bad, so here is what I did: Called Ford Dealer who wanted $75 for the actuator, I also looked up online for a Actuator, which I found one for $10 (YES $10), I'd made sure it was a 2 wire like the stock one in my truck. Had it shipped to me and it only took an hour to install, so if you have any know how to to remove a door panel, this is an easy job, which doesn't even require moving the window.
Let me know if you run into trouble installing, I'll be glad to give advice. Here is the link to where I found the actuator, the guy is real helpful and even gave me advice on how to install..
