door poppers?

my front door both driver/passenger door locks are screwed. i want to do door poppers. how do i go about doing this, and also can i get a wireless keyless entry with it? i have power locks.

all i got from my previous owner was a key. its a 98 4wd 4 door with power windows and locks. someone said its a explorer carry all or somethin g

A door popper is connected to the latch mechanism for the internal or external handle, but will only work if the door is unlocked first. Most people who install door poppers remove the outer door handles. Some aftermarket door popper kits add an extra spring loaded plunger on the frame to help the door pop open. Avoid the low capacity solenoids since they don't always have enough power to pull the latch down. The better models come with a moisture resistant boot to keep water from entering them. You should install remote battery terminals, fuse, and a hard wired over ride switch in a hidden area on the outside of the vehicle in the event that the battery goes dead or the remote control system fails. I did this kind of stuff many years ago on a couple of vehicles.

Door locks were getting to be real iffy on my '97 XLT and the problem was not the lock tumbler, but dried out lubrication on the connecting rods inside the door. I fixed it once, then decided to add remote unlocking to get around the problem. Mine has electric locks, but no remote or keypad.

Found I could get a remote unlock kit (receiver and 2 remotes) on eBay from China for $12, which included shipping! Amazing. I did have to add a couple 12v relays as the output is a pulse of + or - 12v to operate a solenoid. With the relays providing contacts I just wired them to the rocker switch in the rear cargo area and mounted the receiver in the wheel well just ahead of the washer fluid tank. Problem solved! The remotes work fine and we don't fumble with the keys anymore.
