Door removal;

I was gonna do this last summer but I never got around to it. This next coming summer I'm gonna do it for sure. I just need to figure out a way to deal with the wiring. There's about twelve wires that run from the body into the door. I figured I could get some kind of "quick disconnect" thing and splice all the wires up and then just unplug it when I wanted to take the doors off. I was thinking that a connector like the ones found at numerous points in the engine compartment would work good. What would be the best place to find these? I want to know people's opinions about going doorless, and my ideas on how to do it.

P.S. I already figured out a way to have mirrors on it with the doors off. The elctrical issues were the only other hindrence I could think of. The stupid beeper thing would be easy to silence too.

please clarify,
you want these doors to go off and on, from time to time ? Or just one time ?

I want to able to take them on and off as I please. I am going to cut the hinge pins and then put bolts w/nuts in their place. This way I wont have to realign the door each time, because I'm not removing the hinges from the door.

Just follow the wiring harness and unplug them....they are right behind your headlights....the pass side one is under/in front of the battery

huh? what does this have to do with door removal? please explain in more detail.

Get some bullet connectors so you can disconnect each wire when wanted.

Elco makes durable multi-pin connectors.
That might be an option

I thought about that, but decided that the resulting bundle of connectors would be way too fat to fit nicely in the jamb. That and it would take much longer to connect/disconnect all those connectors. (theres something like 12 wires) Thats when I came up with the idea of getting a connector like the ones from the engine compartment. I just can't figure out where I can get something like that. I think the junkyard might be my only option.

try the dealer. i used(i forget what they are called) but the head light harness is the same way, a 12 point connect. you could check a junk yard but with electrical its just easyer if they are new. with the othe dores i used bullet clips they work fine

Yeah, for probably 20 bucks apiece the dealer would have them.....

i just went and looked at a jeep. to get an idea when you take the top off there is a clip, wireing harness in the back that ataches to the window and blade. this is smaller but it is the same thing. you might be able to use this on the other dores.
