on my 2000 there was a connector but not inside the door it was inside the truck.

Ive thought about it. I had the same idea about getting a big multi pin quick connect and wiring it up. Only problems I have with it:

1) The interior is not protectable- no locking console or glovebox
2) My interior is too nice to get all trashed with mud if I went off roading like that
3) Doors are heavy and would be a huge pain to take off/put on alone
4) Unless you use some sort of quick connect pin for the hinge the remove and install isn't going to take 15 seconds like a jeep.

It would be fun to drive though

last i heard from him was he hasn't took her off roading

So do third gen's not have the connectors? I did not look in the truck, only the door. To the above concerns: the protection would be a problem, so would mud, but as far as removal... I'm not too worried bout that... It would not be a permanant deal

i just looked i sent you a text

unfortunately there is no stock connector, an aftermarket one will needed to be added.
sucks...
i wonder if there is another vehicle forum with this kinda write up????

anyone?

hmm it can be done i can help you out with it. gotta find out how many wires it is.and then figure out where you want the connector either inside the truck or inside the door. only problem will be if u take the door off how are you gonna keep stuff from sliding out wich would keep you from being pulled over. and also modifying how the door comes off so you wont have to unbolt then when you wanna put it back on line it back up and all that jazz.

oh yea limited02 the text said. "Its looks like your gonna have to put a connector in if im looking at it right it comes into the the body goes into a T one part goes along the dash and the other goes to a big connector. if you swing the glove department all the way down you can see it better"

just swapped my drivers door... it wasn't too bad to r&r. you all ready figured out = no connector. you will have to remove the door panels and unplug everything, then pull the wires out to dangle. i didn't check when i had my door off but would the door ajar light be on and maybe alarm issues?

adding in a connector would be like adding any aftermarket stereo wiring harness just deciding whether to put it in the door or behind the kick panel. then it would be 4 bolts in the hinges and 2 for the whatsimajig (technical name)

was just thinking i would someday find a rolled ex to take the doors off and make myself some half doors, that would be a project, maybe spray them with bedliner, who the hell needs a jeep.
