My 2000 XLT has had sticky doors on the driver side for at least four months now (since I inherited it), and I've broken the exterior driver door handle almost completely off trying to open it. I've ordered a replacement, and supposedly it's just a broken spring, because it opens from the inside just fine.
However, the left passenger door won't open without two people holding both handles "open" and a few good kicks from the inside. Which I imagine is terrible for the door jam.
Could it be a broken spring in both doors, or something more complicated? I took the door panels off both doors, but couldn't find anything except some rust on the latches.
Also, all the "fix stuck door" sites and posts, even in the manual, are all for power lock/windows Explorers. Mine is manual, so half of those instructions and how-to's don't apply, or make little sense to me.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
