Just wondering on your thoughts on a doubler, in mostly a DD and then trail rig, would a doubler be OK? I've heard that they can snap an axle and are even hard to stop. Now I know for rock climbing and hard core trail rigs they would be great. Some seem to be geared ridiculously low? I have some extra transfer cases and was considering one. Any other things to consider good or bad. This would be in my B2 project.

i run a home built 1350/1354 doubler, i have beaten mine up on the trail (don't rock crawl, no rocks) the only drawbacks to mine that i have run into is the shift linkage, both my cases are manual shift and i'm having a hard time with getting the lnkages right. I have put probably a hundred or so miles on it while driving on pavement and have had no problems. I have heard of guys breakings joints and shafts. But that is more from torque overload, to much stress and skinny pedal. The hard to stop problem i have heard alot more from guys runing auto trannies, with my manual its just easy (push in the clutch) nothing like starting out in 5th gear on an incline with no throttle assitance. I gurantee though, you put in a doubler you'll never wanna run again without one.

I'm sure after I get this on the roads and trails this summer that I will want to have one. But first I'll get it on the trails to see how it does without one. Since I have an auto, a good electric fan should be installed for when I'm crawling along if one is installed.
Thanks for you reply.

I'd love to have one myself. I've got a 1354 for my truck and i've got 1350 that came with the tranny. I'm just not sure i'm ready to tackle a doubler build.
