I'm going to do the sas... but I need an xfer case first. My questions are,
which xfer case (1394 electric okay? saw in the classifieds herer)
and with an xfer case, can i use my stock 2 wd drive shaft (i'll be doing an soa - so the added length could be good)

probably going to need new front an rear driveshafts.... get an atlas II t case, they are sweet... a bit expensice though.... basically, you are going to be doing a 4x2 for 4x4 swap..with an sas.... look for stuff on both the sas and the stuff kris guilbeux wrote about his 4x2 to 4x4 swap.....

done that... but not kris's.... i'll look into that.

Yes,,.... I "want" an atlas II. Much in the same manner I "want" to just throw away the exploder and start drving that Hummer (1st gen). How much do those cost? I'm assuming around 800 more than my simple used xfer case would be.

I'm just glas I save the 2500 premium for stock 4x4.... now I can spend 3/4 that and have the real deal.

About the driveshaft question, I'm not sure on the 2000, but on my 97 Sport 2x4, it doesn't have a slip yoke driveshaft like my 97 Sport 4x4 does, so for increased flex in the back, you might want to look into getting a driveshaft off a wrecked 4x4 and have it lengthend (depending on how much lift you go with).

Cory... I think not. I'd love the low range... but honestly I don't have the bug necessary to spend 2000 on an xfer case yet. Which xfer case do I need to slap on the back of my 5 spd manual? Since I'm doing the SAS and SOA in the back... do I need to have the driveshafts lengthened?

Use a Manual 1354 and yes you'll need new drive shafts (or modified drive shafts

With a manual 1354, are there any adaptor plates or parts i need, or will the xfer case just bolt on? Do I need to remove the Transmision, or tailhousing... ???

Yes you will need a new housing on the rear of the tranny. It is called an extension housing, you can pick them up pretty easily at any junk yard that has rangers, explorers, or bronco 2's.

Happy trails!!
