Drivers Seat Rocking Back and forth?

Hey guys and gals....

My 98' Sport driver seat is rocking back and forth. It does it when I come to a stop it will rock forward and when I accelerate it will rock back.

Any experiences with this? Fixes?

Dealer says I need a new driver's seat

and I searched this whole site out and came up with very little on the subject

Mine does it too. Makes very annoying noises.

My drivers seat is good but I can hear noises from my passenger seat moving around every time I go over a bump. I never really tried to find a way to fix it.

Has anyone looked to see where these noises are coming from (backrest-to-seat, seat-to-track, track-to-floor)? Seats are not that complicated, and should be able to easily see where looseness exists.

Any info?

When ours did that the welds had broke for the brackets on the seat. We were able to reweld a couple of times, but then we had to redo the whole seat and track. Couldn't be welded anymore.

where on the seat/track are there weld's? I looked around didn't see any.

Sorry, I meant the brackets broke and we had to weld them, multiple times.

6'0" 265 in my driver's seat and it sweaks like everytime i stop and start and other times just randomly

Hey ToneDog- My 99xlt with power seats does the exact same thing. Spent a few hours inspecting and tightening everything up. Nothing broken and everything tight. As best I can tell, the looseness is there because of the way the seat adjustment mechanism is designed. Raise up your seat all the way and inspect the adjustment "joint" areas. you will see how there is no way to tighten them and some play is inherent in the design. This effect is lessened when the seat is in its lowest position. I have gotten use to it but it is still disconcerting to feel the seat shift under you. I am 6 foot 1 and 225 pounds. I'm sure that doesn't help.

The brackets that attach the seat to the floor can break. Remove the 4 bolts holding the seat down and inspect the brackets. The ones that I have seen cracked are the front drivers side.

Thanks alot for all the replies! Sorry I didn't reply back sooner but for some reason I only get e-mail notifications on some of my posts and threads that I subscribe to, I guess I should be asking about that!

Well again thanks for all the ideas, i'll try playing with seat positions to see if it makes a difference and then possibly take the seat out and inspect.

Anyway, I will let you know what my findings are
