- 2001 Sport Trac
I am new to this site and this is my first post. My neighbor and I both have Sport Tracs; his is a 2003 and mine is a 2001. I just did a front brake job on his truck which included new ceramic brake pads, new hub & rotors (his is a 2WD), and new wheel bearings.
He now has an intermittent issue with the driver’s side front brakes. Once in a while the brake locks up just before the truck stops. You can feel that the ABS is doing something (the brake pedal pulsates). I have never seen this before. The only two things that I can think of is that the ABS sensor at the wheel needs to be replaced or the ABS ring on the new hob & rotor is somehow defective, i.e., not at the correct depth or bent slightly. His ABS light is not on and for the most part the truck stops beautifully.
I wanted to throw this out there to see if anyone has ever seen this before. This problem did not exist before I did the brakes. My current plan is to re-install the old rotor and brakes on that side and see if I can get it to lock up again. If it does then the sensor is likely the culprit. Any ideas or suggestions? I would love to avoid re-installing the old parts just to test it.
