Hey.... Im replacing my drivers side mirror (one of my many fellow excellent Boston drivers hit and ran while I was at owrk). I got an aftermarket that didn't sit very well at all. I'm returning that, but i'm wondering if it's more than the aftermarket one being a bad mirror. I checked my mirror part number and saw that the OEM # these aftermarkets are supposed to replace is different than any of the part numbers listed on my mirror. I have a Ford Ranger part number (although as far as I know Rangers don't even have a puddle light, which I do). The one the aftermarket comes up with is an Explorer part number. Here are the numbers I have on my mirror...
F57 -17682-3 AAI
F57B-17682-3 AI
F57B-17682-3 BI
F57B-17682-3 CIW
F57B-17682-DI
F57B-17682-3 GI
Anything that might shed some light on this problem would help. I'm probably going to give another aftermarket company a call tomorrow and try another replacement. For what it's worth... I've been wondering if Explorer Sports in 2000 (my model) used a different model mirror than other Explorer trims. None of the aftermarket companies seem to care about trim though.
Thanks!
