guess what boys and girls, i just installed a new ujoint and in the 14 bolt rear
and its sloppy as all hell, so i get to drop the $$ for a 1 ton driveshaft setup, probably a high angle CV driveshaft at that, or would i only have to get the 1410 yoke installed into teh axle tube

good news is that it reaches easily and has slack as far as length wise, but the ujoint itself has a latteral slack of about 1-1.5 inch sideways movement, does not even touch the cap stops, and the ujoint straps dont even touch the caps of the ujoint, by the way, is a neapco 1-0153 , or will i have to do some afro engineering and use the 2 caps from a 1ton ujoint on the axle side, and the original caps from the explorer ujoint

as far as the driveshaft is concerned, its OAL is about 45-56 inches, uses the ford tranny flange up front with a smaller driveshaft tube, and the 2nd part of the driveshaft(since there is a slipshaft) is larger, but runs about 2 inches away from the gas tank sheild, so my concern is that if i go with a 1ton driveshaft tube, its gonna rub against the gas tank sheild since its such a limited space under the truck

so what do yall recomend i do

sounds like you either need a conversion u-joint, change the yoke on the 14b, or change the flange on the axle end of the driveshaft.

see if you can find a 1350 14bolt yoke then have a 1350 end put on your driveshaft so you can run a 1310 at the t-case and a 1350 at the diff.... a 1310 u-joint is puny in comparison to a 14bolt's strength so yer gunna start chaseing yer weak link up the driveline.... my suggestion short of a 302-NP205 swap is a atlas 2 with 1410 rear output and a 1350 front and upgrade the front shaft at the same time to all 1350 parts.

why did you put in a 14bolt? a 9" has better ground clearance and can use 1310 and 1350 u-joints easily?!?!

the 14 bolt came part of a deal, D44, 14 bolt, F&R lift blazer springs, 4 39.5 TSL's and rims, all for $300 plus the 14 bolt is a Full float rear, dont know if the 9 inch rear is, but the 14 bolt is
