picked up a complete front 4" skyjacker lift for cheap to replace the drivers side diffcrusher i mean roughcountry brackets. question is.. can i just replace the dr. side drop bracket and leave the pass side RC one in there or do i need to replace both at the same time. the pass side RC bracket is still in great shape, no cracks or rust.. its just the dr. side thats killing me. too much weight up front with the bumper and winch is making me bottom the plate out on the diff i just installed.

thanks in advance for any input!

the skyjacker brackets are drilled for either 4 or 5.5" lifts.. so in the future I can go with 5.5" springs. just wondering if in the mean time I can just swap the dr bracket. got a big club ride coming up and dont want to have to worry about hitting the diff.

I would just measure the ammount of drop, and if it's close to the same, leave it until you can swap it out later.

Make sure you have properly dropped bumpstops... If you don't have bumpstops, you're run the chance of wrecking something either way.

I see no issue from a functional standpoint replacing just the one side, but why not put those nice beefy Skyjacker pieces on both sides?

...Now would also be a good time to put in some new axle pivot bushings too..;)

the more i think about it the more i'll prbly just swap both sides.. and maybe spend money i shouldnt be spending on 5.5" coils.

thanks for the input guys.. now convince me it needs 5.5 coils!

You gonna get the Stonecrusher steering kit?

stonecrusher? .. right now I just want to get it back to the height it was before the front bumper and winch. they REALLY sagged the front end and ive already knicked the new front diff i put in just by going over some runoff mounds on a logging road.

Ok, I see why you're asking. Yeah you'll probably be OK using Skyjacker's 6" coils with that setup, though it's possible you may still want to at least get the SJ pt# FA600 drop pitman arm for it if it comes out much taller than before (any time you go higher, your steering linkage angle gets more crooked creating more bumpsteer unless you drop it down more with a longer arm or a custom linkage).

I have noticed that from the lift sagging the TREs are more parallel and the steering is better. problem is the camber is wayyy off and im rubbing everywhere. so instead of taller stiff coils, i'll just be adding a spacer, installing the skyjacker axle pivots, and setting them at the 4" lift height, getting an alignment, rotating the tires, and calling it DONE for a while. how long of a while idk.

thanks for all the input!

hmm i must have had a "diffcrusher" lift on my X.. (just took it off) it knocked a hole in my front diff big enough to put a finger through. there was also a crack in the passenger side bracket. the kit was gray if this helps.

the roughcountry lift was great before adding a 200+ lb bumper and 100lb winch, all that weight and old coils led to some bottoming out on the diff. if i remember ill get some pics of the old one.
