Does anyone have the measurements or specs for the drop brackets for a 1 gen explorer (94 Limited)? I could figure it out when I drop the suspension but my X is my daily driver and I would be nice to have the brackets made beforehand so I don't have to bum the wife for a ride to work for too long. Any suggestions or input or experience in doing this project would be appreciated.:D

drop brackets for lifting the front TTB?

how far?

i guess i left out some important info. sorry. I want to lift my TTB 4". I am going to Fab some shackles for the rear. I was thinking maybe SOA but I don't know exactly how high that will lift me and I don't want to run into any steering problems up front. any suggestions?

if you go 4 inches up front youll need a drop pitman arm. i thought id be ok but it bump steered something fierce. most lifts use a drop bracket for the radius arms and the center pivot but use an entirely new bracket for the pass side axle pivot, better quality lifts do anyways. i got radius arm and axle pivot drop brackets from rough country for around 230, it saves a lot of hassle of having to fab something up for the front (especially since i dont have the knowledge or tools) and saves some money over buying a complete lift since a SOA in the rear is inexpensive and gives you all the lift you need. hope this helps some.

I am thinging strongly about doing the SOA. That will keep the stock shackles tucked away under the x. So I guess I am looking at a 5.5" TTB lift. I really want to fab the lift myself. Bragging rights I guess. I have the tools and the know how. ( or I have friends who have the know how hehe). I work in a well equiped fab/machine shop so the workmanship in the brackets should be sound. Do you think there will be a drastic change in the handling with that much lift?

it is said that soas require driveshaft modification. So do your reaserch on it and find out exactly what needs to be done.

I didn't know that. Will do a search on that again and make sure I know what I am doing before I start tearing s#@t apart. thanks matt.

most explorers can just use there stock driveshafts after doing a SOA

No measurements, but here's what different brands look like. The bottom two have two holes because Superlift has a 4" and 5.5" using the same brackets. Skyjacker has a 6" and 8" lift using the same brackets. Good luck.

The rear driveshaft issue after an SOA depends on the truck. Some have had to lengthen it and some haven't.

Sorry I haven't responded in a while. It has been frickin' busy up here oil patch. No time to work on my baby. But anyways... that pic of the drop brackets is what inspired me to fab my own. I was hoping I would here from someone else who did this and give me their 2 cents. It seems that the kit bracketry is just predrilled sheetmetal that is bent in the press to fit the stock mounts, no welded parts at all. If that is the case it would be stronger and even easier to make. Am I right?
