i have a 98 5.0 L and i want to put a dual exhaust on it. not the true dual, but to pipes coming out of the rear bumper with a flow master muffler.

i went to big al's and they said it cant be done because i dont have a suspension lift.
but i have shackles and tt.

Does anyone have this setup with the dual exhaust i want to know that it can be done

Sounds to me as if Big Al is scared

I was quoted $200 for dual on the Mountaineer, lowered 2 inches....

Try another shop.

Lots of folks have done it before. As others have said....find another shop.

I run duals out the back with tips. The pipe actually touches my spare in one spot but its never hurt anything.. my tips exit behind the tires.

This is the exact setup I have on mine. It will work. And I have a 2" tt and shackles. 5.0 as well ;)

Yea im up about 3" with the V8 also.. not sure if it matters..

ive had a guy tell me he'd run a dual exhaust for 400 bucks no matter if they were straight out the back or thrush, he said that id risk the leaf spring crushing the piping if i went thrush and i'd have to take off my hitch reciever to do straight out the back, i was just like eff it im just gonna put the muffler on and not even worry about running new piping.

Find a different pipe shop! My guy removed my pipe from the rear to cats back then ran true duals all the way back for 100 bucks.

i got duals on my 01 sport and still got the spare tire as well

Sounds like a shop that doesn't know what their doing and shouldn't be in business. A real exhaust shop will have a bender and know how to form the piping.... it's easy as hell for them even under the cramped 2nd gens. I had my duals routed no problem with no touching/rubbing and kept the spare as well.

It's about a half inch or 1/4 inch or so away from the spare, but in all the years the tire has not one mark on it... you have a better chance of being hit by lightning every day then have the pipe burn a mark into the spare lol. That was every exhaust shops excuse till I found one whose done plenty of them.. "your spare tire will catch fire", bunch of tards lol

Yea most big chain shops wont do a lot of things because if something did happen you could hold them responsible for the damages so they tend to play by the book. I was able to find a back yard kind of guy to do my exhaust work and i usually just help him do it so it comes out exactly how i wanted it that day... The spare tire will NOT catch on fire either from a smoke pipe... Just sayin..:p:
