dulling of chrome on front end..

'96 XLT
just bought a 96 xlt and i noticed that some of the chrome has lost its finish on the chrome above the grill. does ne 1 know if i could refinish this and if so, with what? thanks

that tends to happen, it is actually not chrome but a coating that they put on top of the plastic/fiberglass, whatever it is. You can get grilles off ebay for cheap, I would check there.
 






Yeah its plated ABS plastic. Your only choice is going to be replacing the grille, that is unless its juct crud on the finish. In that case try a claybar or something like that.
 






Another option would be to get it painted body color. A monochromatic paint scheme is always good.

Dark Green. You must go Dark Green. Monochromatic color is always cool. :cool:
 






what brand/kind of paint though? I've never painted anything on a car before
