I know this is going to come back to haunt me as a stupid question, but what is the differences between the explorer lift kits and the ranger lift kits of the same year? I have a '93 explorer and it seems like they charge you more for the same parts just because you have a suv than a pickup. wouldn't a lift kit for an early 90s ranger work the same?

The main difference is in the parts that make up the rear lift. The Explorer is spring under (rear end sits on top of leaf springs), while the Ranger is spring over. The Ranger kit only needs to have lift blocks or add-a-leafs to raise the rear, where as the Explorer either needs special rear leaf springs that are arched to provide lift, or for lifts 5.5" and higher they need to have the rear axle flipped.

hmmmm I seem to recall that the ranger radius arms dont even come close to fitting....
