Dupli-Color

I know some users here have used Dupli-Color paint on their cars, so I figured i'd ask here. (I did search, but didn't find anything pertaining to what i was looking for).
Is Dupli-Color considered automotive paint, aka if I put it in a spray gun and used it on my car, would I need a ventilator to prevent paint from entering my lungs and potentially crystalizing?
I'm not sure how often this happens or how easily it can happen, but I like to breathe hehe.

Why put DupliColor in a gun- if you go to a paint supply store with your paint code or color choice, they will mix/order you the paint. Yes, you need a ventilator of some sort if you're worried...

Yes, it contains the same nasty chemicals as other auto paints, so you need adequate ventilation and personal protection. If you were spraying outdoors with just a roof as in a carport, you might be Ok with a simple mask, but in a garage or booth you need a respirator and a fan running to blow away the fumes.

When I sprayed my truck I used a car port type tent, with plastic siding to make a temporary spray booth. I used a simple $20-$30 resperrator, and it was scary to see the whhite filters turn red. To keep the pint off you, buy a simple cheap rain suit, for $10 bucks you'll be covered head to toe and don't forget eye protection.

yep- and everything else will be covered with paint too. It's a raging mess. Also- the white cotton 3M respirators with the rubber bands are not good enough... It even says it on the box- I used to paint forklifts during the summer, and they gave us a box of those and cases of paint- until we pointed the warning out...

Yeah- I think we scared the shop we worked for when we walked in to show them the death warning on the box- those things are the biggest joke ever! I think there are a lot of people lucky to be alive at Freedman... Ha ha!

So, Joe Dirt, are you suggesting rustoleum instead of Dupli-Color? Hehe, cuz I'm not exactly fond of Dupli-Color.
If I do use Rustoleum, i'd have to thin it, and then, still assuming a resperator and not just a dust mask?

Are you talking about a real spray gun? With an air compressor?

If you are, you need good paint from an auto body supply paint shop and you'll be thinning, prepping, the whole deal- not Rustoleum or DupliColor stuff. I think I'm getting confused as to what exactly you're painting.

I was talking about a gun with an air compressor, but no I was not talking about using automotive grade paint, i'm not looking for a perfect finish, just something looks nice.
I'm not exactly sure how Burns painted his truck, but I was going for something more like that, except maybe Orange

I used a gun and a compressor, I would say dupli color is probally better then rustolum, but it's all in the prep. That and I never added a clear coat to my truck.

Stick-o I had forgot about the Jurassic Park paint job you did on your truck, I must say, I thought that was some of the sweetest **** i've seen for a paint job.
