The beast keeps dying when it's cold. I have done a full tune up and checked the fuel pressure. All is well there. It has been suggested to me that the injectors may need a rebuild. I have 140,000 miles on it and don't know if they have ever been done. Any thoughts?

If keeping your foot lightly on the gas keeps it goin, I would suspect the IAC is sticking.

For a guide on cleaning the IAC check here.

It's for a different year/model, but they're very similar.

You'll see the IAC sensor right after your intake tube, on the driver's side of the intake. That link should show you everything else you'll need to know to remove and clean it.

<edit>

That thread relates to a humming or howling noise coming from the valve, but it's the best thread I could find on how to clean the IAC. Even if your IAC isn't making any noise, cleaning it should solve your problems.

My explorer did the same thing yours is doing. Cleaning the IAC fixed it for me.

If you need anymore help let us know.

Thank you, I'll give it a try and see what happens.
