Installed new sway bar bushings on my explorer today, and what a difference. Still need to install radius arm bushings, and pivot bushings.Anybody interested in tightening up there X, this is definitely an inexpensive way to go.Took me about an hour and a half, this included repainting bars, and brackets.Anyway, if anybody was curious about the kits that Hank is selling on this site, I would recommend them to any high mileage X. Mine has a 172,000 miles, and although my bushings looked okay, they were compressed, and wore out.Same as energy-suspension, but the Daystars about hlf the cost.:D

DAYSTAR BUSHINGS

Just an update to earlier post. Last weekend went to Knoxville-Gatlinburg area. After installing the swaybar kits from Daystar I ordered from Hank, I put 900 miles in three days. My results from this trip were good, traveling thru the smokies with a full load[ two children, the wife, and the cargo area so full I couldn't see out the back window, we were able to travel at an average speed of about 75 miles per hour thru the mountains with out any kind of body roll. Also spent a day four-wheeling in the mountains and felt the explorer handled more like a new vehicle again. This explorer has a 172,000 miles, and the bushing kit made a world of difference. I am now ordering the rear spring bushings, pivot bushings, and the radius arm bushing kits. After I install those I will give them a test and let everyone know how they rate. This trip took my explorer up to an elevation of 1440 feet offroad, next trip will be higher.

Njsjsonline Yes, we do... See link below. Currently setting up a complete eCommerce site using the Daystar catalog plus working deals with other vendors.

Send me an e-mail if you want a price on something that is not listed.

Aldive, I'm still pounding.

Bushing Mayhem

How can you remove the lower drop down braqcket bushings? I got the ones out with the big washer attached to the bolt, but the others are a PITA.

Please help I have posted two threads yesterday and no one can seem to help.

Hello,

Axle pivot bushing??

If so, I used the removal by fire method. (Blow torch) I don't condone playing with fire when underneath a vehicle loaded with explosive and flamable materials but it worked for me.

I kept a hose handy and packed the surrounding area with soaking, dripping wet rags. Using a low flame on the torch I heated up the inner sleeve till it started to melt the existing bushing. When the whole blob was soft I grabbed it out with a big long pair of needle nose pliars. And dropped it into a waiting bucket.

Others have used the drill out method.

Be careful and good luck.

Quoting the board..
All tips on this site are for use at your own risk and discretion. Modifying the suspension on any vehicle will cause changes to it's handling characteristics.

That is what I think I will have to do.

It is actually the bushing in the sway bar connect linkage. I am just dumbfounded as to why this has to be so difficult.

It would seem the bushing with the bolt through it would be more difficult.

I'll have to get a butane torch. Burn baby burn. Not as though we don't have enough smoke in the air here anyway.

LINK BUSHINGS

I found by using about a a 5/16ths drillbit placed in between bushing and link using a med. speed on drill the drill will run around bushing clock-wise at the same time pulling bushing out for you. Alot cleaner and less stinky[can't stand the smell of burnt rubber] it took about a minute each link, no damage to link either, just got to start out slow till you get the hang of it.
Good luck:D

I will try the drill thing as I too hate burnt rubber. I did try to drill them out last night but it just broke the bit and made me get out the hammer and start to beat on them like a caveman.

I can't believe these little buggers are so dang tenacious, they must really like the home they have had since 95. teehee

Though backing down the drive and over the curb to turn around and back into the garage the front already felt tighter just bouncing up the curb.

I can't wait to get these finished...Thanks again for the great idea..

BUSHINGS

I to tried the caveman method, all it did was piss me off! I found the drill method by resulting to the mac-gyver approach, it will make it a lot easier. Next I'm going to install the radius arms, and pivot bushings, as well as the rear spring bushings. If you have any questions let me know. I don't know if a 95 has same front end as a 93 but if I can help, I will.

Two words "Fry Daddy"...Melt those bad boys...

88vert

Just a note, ordered the radius arm bushings, pivot axle bushings, and the rear spring bushing kit today. Will let everyone know how it goes, if they come in by Friday then they will go on Saturday, my stock radius arm bushings are popping now. I guess after 172,000 miles that's to be expected. Next comes the Rancho's! Next month will be the Daystar body bushing kit.:D
