What do I need to achieve this? I have a 93 x if it matters and what donor or donors are best

5 speed swap

I have a 94 X and used a 93 ranger as a parts truck the swap was easy took about 8 hours in my driveway with hand tools if you search 5 speed swap you will find everything you need to know

Hardware is all the same, you can get the trans and pedals from any RBV (make sure to get an m5od though!). You need to pay attention and get a matching trans harness. There's a few variations. I found one from a '93 Explorer to match my '94. Count how many engine sensors it plugs into. ECU will be pretty much down to the year you have as there are quite a few variations.

Find the how-to thread and start making your list. The more complete vehicle you can find the better. I just did this so if you have an specific questions let me know.

I'm wanting to swap my 92 ex to a Manuel what do u think would work. Its got the 4.0

What does a m5od come out of my computer at work says I'll be lookin for a m5r1

That's an M5OD Revision 1 (R1)They come out of Gen 1 Rangers and Explorers.

It will also have to be from a 4.0 as the 4cyl/3.0 version has a different bell housing. The internals are the same but the case is different.

Fixed it for you.

True. Although the gearsets for 1-3 from the smaller engines are desired for larger tires. I was going to go that route rebuilding mine but I think I'll just buy a sealed low mileage unit.

will a 99 ranger 5 speed transmission with a 4.0 work with my 93 x or is that a no go
