Can get an open 8.8 carrier for like 20 bucks at most around here. I can get one, weld it, and send it to you for the cost of the part. Or depending on what you "blew" you can weld up an LS carrier also. Problem solved.

Depending on your gear ratio you can also get a whole rear axle for 50 or so bucks around here. Then it slaps in real quick. Easy and cheap.



Edit, How did you catch a treetrunk and cause it to blow your rear? and what specificaly did it blow?

not sure whats wrong yet, going to my uncles this weekend to find out and fix it, he should be able to do it. And thanks for the offer rookie!

As for how it happened, i was slipping and sliding down a dune, wheels were spinning round 40-50 mph, and i hit a log that was upright, when i did it must've stopped one wheel and it couldn't handle the tourqe?

All i know is that i came to a completae stop from about 20 mph and hit my head on the windsheild, and when i was good we drove off and only the fornt wheels were dirving!

I just got it in 4x4 and diconected the driveshaft, lol I got a Front wheel drive X

sounds like you either destroyed the carrier or maybe a shaft, but I dont think it would of drove home either way because the shafts would of slid out right?

well lucky i only had less than a mile to dirve, and it made the worst grinding and clanking imaginable, the right rear tire would lock form time to time!

But then i disconected the rear driveshaft and it seems to be driveable, granted the farthest i've driven is less then 2 miles but yea, i just goto get it down the street saturday to get the rear looked at and fixed!

I'm not sure what broke, nor am I then knowlegeable about the compnents of the rear, but i did notice that the right rear tire locked up when the driveshaft was connected but it doesnt anymore? Idk its strange as hell!

it'll be ifxed by sunday though!

So if all goes well i'll be up there!

o0o and rookie, i found out that we are ogin to replace the 8.8 for free, it will be an open though, but i dont mind too much HELL its FREE.

As for getting a new one, maybe when I come up there you can direct me in the direction of a 50 dollar LS, i paid over 200 for mine!

Thats right but i think the calipers help keep the wheel from pulling out more.

yea i got drum rears, im not sure what went wrong offically, but i pulled the cover this afternoon, there is metal EVERYWHERE, the only thing intact is the driveshaft, both axels had the slines shreded and the big thing in the centeR? is shot, getting it replaved satuday!

I'll let you know for definite plans though
