Can someone post here telling me just what exactly is in the Eddie Bauer option? I just got a 92 two weeks ago and wonder what all is in this that option.

I figure the Eddie opt is this:
*leather seats-power, lumbar (mine are grey, tho)
*power windows and mirrors
*power 4x4 switching
*sunroof/luggage rack
*gel-filled steering wheel(?)
Probably things like extra lighting, etc.

Mexico Beach is 20 miles southeast of Panama City, about 40 miles from Apalachicola

*power 4x4 switching Stock on ALL 1992 4X4 Explorers, unless deleted
*sunroof/luggage rack Luggage is XLT option, standard on eddie/ Sunroof is option across the board
*gel-filled steering wheel(?) doesn't exist
Probably things like extra lighting, etc. Lighted visor mirrors

Actually....I edited your list.....Most eddie bauer features are just upgrades from XLT options....if it was an option on alower model, it is stock on eddie bauer....except for the sunroof....

I have a '96 Eddie Bauer and doesn't have leather. I'm pretty sure the 1st gens are like that too. Leather was usually a no cost option so that's why there're more leather equipped models.

Your right, when I was selling fords I saw plenty of EB explorers in the service department with cloth interior.

that gel filled steering wheel almost makes sense being how during the summer i get black greasy **** all over my hands from it. My EB has cloth seats, both fronts are power w/ air lumbar support, we also get EB stitching on seats and floor mats. Mine is fully loaded except leather (which i hate anyways too hot here), my buddies EB (91) has ford escort interior, waaay different then my 92, so i think it all varies Eddie bauer is just interior.

I feel your pain, mine does the same thing. I have learned how to drive without getting it on me, but if someone else drives my truck they always get gooed on:eek:

our 91 eddie added PW/PL/premium radio but no sub, A/C, and tan everything (cloth interior) and sawblade rims (option on others, standard on eddie), and trailer wiring. other than that, nothing special. above and beyond that, could be leather, sunroof (which we have), CD, 8" sub, and a few other goodies....some of which ours doesnt have.

So my X isnt the only one with greasy black **** comin out the steering wheel huh? What is that stuff and how do you fix it aside from changin the steering wheel? At least you are in the Bay area where its always 70 degrees or colder, im 100 miles up where 100 degrees is the norm, the **** actually drips on my legs when im driving, right now i just put a cover over it, it works half ass.

My friends 94 XLT had the JBL system..I have the premium crap, (well had, I have Cerwin Vega's all around). I know not all EB's had JBL sound.

With all this talk about steering wheels. I am going to buy a Mustang 1992-1993 steering wheel to put in the X because I just HATE the stock X! I can't get comfortable looking at it, plus I like to have my finger on the top "leg" on the left side, and the X's wheel doesn't have that, so it gets me uncomfortable. Has anyone ever replaced one?

Thanks!

Yeah I bought a cover for it, it helps some what. It has gotten better since I moved back to the bay. I bought the truck when I lived in Phoenix so I knwo what you are talking about how it can leak on to you. I am glad that I have the leather seats, it just wipes right off pretty easy. I am thinking about getting a new steering wheel. I would like to get one off a 93-94 because I think they look better.
