If you look at the links that nnnick posted you will see it on an explorer.

Explorer 1994-1998

Choo Choo Style. Shown with round lights.
Most conversion trucks used oval/elliptical lights. Both light styles available.
Order lights separately. Specify Explorer or Ranger.

it says conversion trucks.. didnt know what that meant.. i believe they made explorer conversion vans.. thats why i mentioned that

I'm not really sure what that means either. And yes, they did make an explorer van type thing.

DasFrem, are you willing to sell me your front bumper from your 4wheeling rig? You'll get better approach angles with my bumper (plus a little cash).

That Choo Choo Customs dam doesn't look half bad. I just want to know the price.....

I already got the bumper from my old truck on there with the lower valence taken off (for better approach angles) But the one I took off isn't exactly in the best conditions. It's scratched up and it has a rather rough texture and is not dark black. I would recomend you buy one though bumpers.com. You can get them in gloss black all monotone. That bumper would look really hot up there on the front of yours, especially if you put the 99-01 EE airdam up there (gee, I wonder why I think that?)

WOW i really like the look of that air dam on an X.....i wonder how much it costs too....now im thinking of getting one!!!

and my comment about the explorer w/ the mustang bumper....my bad...that is a saleen explorer bumper right? any way its bad a$$...to bad saleen discontinued them

heres what im thinking. I talked to the guy who owns this X
www.cardomain.com/id/camachoruiz
and you can tell his front air dam is modified, although not radically different. What he did was take a Front Lip from a 99 Civic and fiberglass it on with some bondo. It doesnt seem to hard to do, and he said they match up well so it isn't even that much fiberglassing envolved. Anyway the civic front lips sell for like 90 bucks shipped on ebay, so it would be a cheap way to have a totally custom front bumper. I might try this mugen front lip or something a little different (although im defintely not gonna do anything riced-out, dont worry) im just looking for a more aggressive airdam

ok- here's what im thinking. the airdam in the pic below (also the "blue one" that has been posted like 10 times on this thread:p ) but, with the opening in the bumper welded in. just imagine this pic but with no bumper opening and no front license plate... gonna paint bumpers/grill white this winter anyway, and it wouldt be any trouble to fill in the bumper opening (someone with Photoshop help me out here...

basically, this is what ive concluded. ANY airdam that has an opening in the middle is just gonna look like a "stacked" bumper. thats why i cant seem to find one that i like other than the "drew/98x24 bandwagon" airdam... they all just look too busy. with the grill opening, the bumper opening, and then the 'dam opening, its just too much. wonder what it would look like with a filled bumper like a regular truck (hint, hint)...

Thanks, 98FordX24, I pretty much had decided that it was going to be a fab job. Did you plug the old upper plate mounting holes? I'm thinking of filling the whole with sst carriage bolts. Any other ideas?

I have not put anything in there yet. I did look at my hardware store for some nice, flat head bolts, but didnt see anything I liked. Thats another one of those things that will eventually get done. Just yesterday, I finally made some brackets to hold a billet grille in the bumper opening. It looks good in there. I'll post a pic of it when I get back from PA.

alright-

1. i relocated the plate by flipping the stock bracket and drilling new holes. i filled the old holes with two screw heads jb welded in place. how did other people fill these? mine looks like crap (check out the pic)

2. what if you got one of the gilles with the hole in it, but filled it with some kind of mesh painted to match body color and made it a ram air of intake/filter thing. that is sort of what i'm doing, but its not really visible (if you look carefully in the pic behind my license plate there is a black with chrome flames screen and behind that there is a painted black(really hard to see, and its supposed to be that way) dryer ducting intake tube that pulls cold air into the engine. so what i'm saying is why fill it in? when you could modify it so that it would actually help your performance?

i want to fill it in so it will look "right" with the airdam i posted above. basically, i want to make a "smoothie" bumper like on a 88-98 chevy truck. in my opinion, that blue airdam looks good, but it just looks a little to busy with the openings stacked like that. im just wondering what it would look like with a smoothie bumper. i see what your sayin with the mesh, and yes it would make it less noticable, but i dont think it would look right (with the blue dam).

as far as the ram air thing, im gettin a charger (one of these days) so im not gonna put any effort into that only to have to rip it out/modify it in a few months...

cool, yeah i see what you mean. i'm not sure that blue dam would look right even if it were filled (and i feel like i can usually tell how things will look modified) i'd like to see a photochop attempt before i really have an opinion about that one. i like the performance products dam too, and no one really has that one.

ok, i did this in about 5 minutes in "paint", and it looks hideous. maybe someone will see my failed attempt and jump in here with photoshop... hopefully this is enough to give you an idea... viewing tip... stand way back away from your monitor.

James t, that is a good idea, but it may be a little tough. After you filled the hole, you'd have to have the whole thing chrome plated again or have it painted. BUT, interesting look.

I e-mailed Honest Charley today, and the airdam is $159 and the light set is $59. Not bad if you ask me. I may get this one, but I'm not sure yet.

DasFrem, I have looked at bumpers.com. Here's the problem, I need the 99 style supports and hardware. Plus, bumpers.com no longer carries the gloss black bumper cover.

i photoshopped it but i cant post it. Someone email me at nnnick03@aol.com and ill send u the photoshopped pic so you can post it.

no big deal here, im gonna paint mine anyway. it really shouldnt look too radical, it will just look like 95% of every other SUV/truck on the road. we'll see, pic in the works...
