I need help -911 stranded now what...

I hooked up to a trailer , sat idling for about 10 minutes, went to reverse out , then 92 x died. Thought i was outta gas , but wasn`t.
EEC fuse keeps popping.
where does the EEC go, is there any way to bi-pass the ECC, if i try to start truck without fuse, it won`t, if put larger rated fuse, it burns out ( yikes fire..)
Took off all trailer wiring harness, replaced fuse box, replaced EEC relay, sorta checked all wiring, thought i was good to go, then the same thing happened..Pop blew EEC fuse.
Whats the fuse trick , replace with light bulb to figure out where short is..? How..?
PLEASE i need help , going to see my kid`s tomorrow, have to fix NOW !!
email me at rickstrailers@yahoo.ca
Thanks for you`re help-anyone..?

oh yeah ...seems like the double (2) yellows inside the eec relay are gettin` HOT..where do these go.?
do i need a new puter.? where is da puter thang.
Just one more sleep till i see the kids, but won`t be able to unless iget this fixed in time.please help.....
please help !!!

Answer to yellow wires question -- One runs from the fuse to the EEC relay. Other yellow wire connects the same connector on the relay to pin 1 on the EEC computer.
EEC-computer is located behind below the glove box behind the trim "kick" panel to the right of the "passenger's feet."
Next thing I suggest is getting a wiring diagram -- I don't think you can expect to figure this one out without it. That yellow wire is on the upstream side of "switched" side of the relay (not sure of the technical term). Basically, when the key is on, the current flowing through the red/ltgrn--blk/wht side of the relay closes a switch that connects the yellow wires to a whole host of components (O2 heater, various solenoids, sensors that require excitation voltages, etc) any of which (or any of the wires in between) could be shorting out causing EEC fuse to blow.
Good luck, these kind of electrical faults can be tedious to track down.

Help Eec Relay Problem/wiring diagram..?

Thanks Mr.SHorty for you`re response..
Now where do i find a wiring diagram for 92 x..?
I spent all day trying to track down that "short" , wasn`t fun , seems when all wires where taped back up , I still had those 2 yellow wires ( together as one), as well as the red( solid) wire, in the EEC relay, both where burnin` up.
( hot)....dayuuuum !
Now they start to heat up , as soon as i turn the key to the "on" position(1st click ).and i now don`t have a start or igniton . Truck will fire up ( kinda ) using the 2 side post`s mounted on fender wall by the power dist. box.
So i`m baffled...as the story goes, i was hooked up to a trailer, about 5 minutes, then as i went to reverse the trailer out, the truck`s engine shut off, like i was outta gas or something..till i noticed the EEC relay fuse popped.

The only other thing, I`ve done lately was replace 4 outta the 6 spark plugs.
Ohhhh and i removed some sorta sensor , ontop of the engine, front drivers side.Looks like it screws into top of engine.
I was wondering if maybe this problem has something to do with the darn COMPUTER ,

or....

something to do with reversing that trailer out...
or...

ignition ( where i turn key )

or....

starter ( since i get nothing when i start the truck with the key.?)

H E L P ..I only have a few hours tomorrow, to figure this out...
Don`t wanna be late for my son`s birthday party. :bounce:

Wiring diagrams can be had in some repair manuals. The info I gave you earlier was from the wiring diagrams in my Chilton's manual. If you don't want to buy one, they can often be had in public libraries. A library might also have bigger/better manuals with more detailed wiring diagrams. You can get the same information that's in Chiltons from www.autozone.com under repair info (vehicle specific repair guides). I know it would be nice if someone had a quick fix for you, but I don't know that it's going to come.
As for speculation:
I doubt the fault is directly related to the trailer incident unless the trailer is/was improperly wired.
I doubt it's in the starter, as the starter doesn't go through the EEC fuse.
Doubt it's in the ignition, as that circuit doesn't go through the ignition switch (The circuit that controls the relay is powered by the ignition switch, but that's different).
Might be a computer fault, but I would almost lay odds that the fault is in the wiring to the computer rather than the computer module itself.

I`ve got the Haynes book, which wiring diagrams didn`t help me much, Thanks Mr.Shorty for the autozone site, I`ll take a look.
UPDATE....
so this mornin i noticed some sorta "relay" looks like a little minichip of sorts, underneath drivers side dash, attached to the left side panel. I pulled it open and noticed some " scaring", and some solder that looked to be outta the norm..
I tried to start truck , but got nothin, but as i left key in the on position, , ran around to check EEC relay, i noticed..Poof(smoke ), coming from wires, that apparently connect to my sensorsontop of motor, this harness eventually goes down behind motor...." Alas" would this be the short i wassa lookin for..
checkin it tomorrow after i get some more fuses....and umm relays...etc..

Oh and i made my son`s b-day party...was ahhsome..!

UPDATE :bounce:

So although it took me 4 days to figure this "issue" out ,I`m glad to say Ahhhh my x is back on the road... :smoke:
Seems it was some sorta "SENSOR" for the transmission , one of the 3 wires was grounding out on the transmission case..Grrr":mattmoon
But now at leat i know what each and every wire under the hood does..!
The next question is......HOW DO I REPLACE THE SENSOR IF IT`S BEEN "BURNT", since it is located in such an awkward spot.. :nono:
( ontop of transmission) best idea i have is cuttin` a whole in the drivers side floor, reweld it back..ARgggg.!!) Haha.?

I'm not sure but I think that your "sensor" may not be a sensor but instead is the connection to the Torque Converter Clutch coil. It would make sense that it would cause your EEC fuse to blow; the TCC gets its power from the PCM (computer) which in turn gets its power from the EEC relay.

The other possibilities would be the Neutral Safety switch, the Transmission Range sensor (but this is on the side of the trans) .

Good thinkin` DOGFRIEND,, Thanks
whatever it was that burnt must also be causing the truck newest issue, and that is it feels like i can`t get it through the gears ( auto) as the truck dreads going up hills now, and when i when i giver gas, my x seems to lag or bog out , givin` me no power.
Oh and I`m now getting smoke(greyish) from some sorta trani leak Gee go figure ..?
, Hmmm frustrating "issues"...

If the transmission solenoids are grounded between the solenoid and the computer, that will cause the transmission to get stuck in 4th gear with the torque converter clutch locked up. Is the reason the truck seems to have no power when going uphil is it won't downshift?

Good point, I forgot to mention that the 3 - 4 shift solenoid is also controlled by the PCM.

Thanks MrShorty..
so now what , how do i check.
The 3 wire plug that was originally shorting out, which i have not been able to replace yet, just disconnect. is akward to get at, ontop left side of transmission, how would i replace the electical part on transmission.?
My x is simply the most difficult 4x4 i`ve had to work on...everything important seems to be in a tight place..
