egr problems

I got a code that says egr flow excessive . I changed the valve and took battery cable off to reset the computer . was fine for a while but got the light again . could it be the sensor or something else ?

Yes, it could be the sensor or it could be something else. Can you supply the specific code number? Was it a KOEO code or a CM code or both?

Pull the codes. It could be the DPFE sensor. Also, check the 2 hoses that go from the sensor to the EGR tube. I had the CEL light on and was getting EGR codes on my 95. Replaced the sensor and that solved the problem. Replacing the sensor is much easier to do than the valve.
