96 Explorer XLT
Hello all, I jumped on here earlier to find some info about changing the hub and bearing and the info i got was awsome, made what i thought to be a 3 hour job a 1 hour job. THANKS FOR THIS WONDERFUL SITE!!:salute:
i Do however have one more problem, I have a 96 Explorer XLT 4X4 4.0L V6 and when i start the car when it is cold it starts fine, but when it has had enough time to warm up and i shut it off it does not want to start back up. I have to hold the pedal down 20% of the way and even then it bogs and idle's rough. I have a engine code on for the EGR Valve and have a new valve in the box still because i have been told that it is not the problem, also it looks tough to get off because the the pipe going to the exhaust is worn a little. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly welcomed. Thank you:thumbsup:

have you cleaned your iac ? tho i dont have a 96 do you have the cel on ?

EGR codes are almost never the valve itself and almost always the DPFE.

no. i have not cleaned the iac, dont know what that is. i dont remember what code number it was, will post later with the code.:)

what is the DPFE??

Well it is starting to make more sense. water vapors?
Where would i look on my 96 4 litre for DPFE:D

Well you hit the nail on the head. my explorer is starting up fine now. i still cant believe it was that small box causing all my problems. i replaced the DPFE and took some sea foam intake cleaner and cleaned the IAC. it is running like a gem now. thanks for your help guys:salute:
