Anyone have tips or recommendations on cleaning the EGR Valve? Would I just remove it and spray away with Carb cleaner? I have narrowed down my rough idle sluggish accel issues and that seems to be the culprit. Pinging or a low pitched hum that comes from under the hood only when I accelerate from a stop or try to pass on the highway. I've poked around a few threads and from what I read it could be the culprit. Strangly as the weather has warmed up throttle response has improved slightly and the hum isnt as regular as when it ws much colder. (thermostat maybe?)Once again no codes, I got a vac/pressure gauge from autozone. My preliminary vac tests on the brake booster and PCV lines seem o.k, steady 23psi @2000rpms. This weekend I planned on replacing the manifold intake gaskets and do a complete vac test and check fuel pressure,a seafoam and oil change.

Have you looked at the IAC valve?

If you suspect one of those, replace them. Don't fool around with cleaning them. They're both a $40-$50 part.

I put in a new one (IAC)almost 3 months ago, after starting up the rpms jump to 1500 then settles at about 500-700. The rough idle is intermittant and the ping/hum is noticeable on acceleration.
