EGR valve replacement

CEL light came on autozone guy said it was the egr valve. Trying to replace egr. Started to loosen bolts on the valve with a 10mm socket and it started to strip. Is there a secret to changing the valve, also could not get to the second bolt, too tight. Please help.

EGR related fault codes rarely have anything to do with the EGR valve itself. What was the exact code number?

I replaced my EGR valve also, after going to Autozone to get a code checked out, now I still have a CEL and when I went back, the guy at AutoZone told me that the tubes may be clogged, or the other sensor connected to the EGR system may be the cause. I need to pull my EGR tubes before I spend anymore money.

bmurph: i had to remove the lower inner fender splash panel and the front tire off to get to the bolts on the EGR valve. That way you can get more leverage on the bolts.
