i HAVE A 91 EXPLORER, THE 40 AMP FUSE FOR THE "ELEC. SHIFT" IS MISSING.WHAT IS THE "ELEC. SHIFT"? AND IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE A FUSE IN THE SLOT?

The electric shift fuse is for the electric shift motor on the transfer case. It is what shifts the t-case from 2 wheel drive, to 4 wheel drive, and into low range. So yes its important if you want to use 4x4.

Where can I find this thread. I saw same thing in my fuse box. 40amp is missing

I swapped out the old fuses for new ones today and left it empty

I hope those are major brand fuses. Generic Chinese fuses tend to have very bad accuracy and take a lot more than their rated current to blow.

Yes. Only name brand fuses. All are Bussman with the exception of the 60amp which is littelfuse
