Several months back the battery in my 2001 Explorer Sport died. I used AAA road service for a jump-start and replaced the battery the next day. SInce then the stereo has not worked. No lights or anything. Come summer I also found my A/C did not work. I had a local mechanic check out the A/C last week. The system blows air but it is not cold. I was thinking that it needed a recharge.

The mechanic told me the compressor was not getting any power. When he checked further he discovered that both the A/C and steroe had no power at the fuse panel (inside) when checked at their appropriate fuses.

He has spent a couple of days troubleshooting but has yet to solve the issue.

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

best guess is fault ignition switch. Does you radio work in accessory position on the key switch? Have you checked the in line fuse for the radio (normally there is one ... could be gone)? Is it a factory radio or aftermarket? Since you are only discovering things that don't work, you need to go thru and try as many things as possible to see what else doesn't work that might help things a bit. I only have 96 wiring so things are difficult to compare but I don't see any correlation between the two current "outs" except maybe at the key switch and there would be other things out ... I think.

Thanks for the response.

The radio is a factory unit (indash cd changer). I was not aware it had an inline fuse. The manual does not mention nor do the wiring diagrams. Do you know where it is located?

I have not found anything else that does not work. (interior lights, dash lights, power windows, locks, sunroof)

The radio does not work in the accessory position either.
