not being a mechanic, I need some advice on this one. I have a '97 xlt 5.0 awd. The truck runs fine and has never failed me with 160,000 mi on it. My dreaded check engine light has been coming on periodically for a few years it went out just before my last ny inspection and the truck passed with flying colors. Sooooo! now it seems to be on all the time. The latest problem is that I noticed my interior lights were not shutting off after the car was turned off not knowing if there was a seperate fuse to pull I just pulled the bulbs, tough way to enter at night, then I noticed the heater blower sometimes would still be going after the key was turned off. I'm starting to feel like an electrical Tsunami is starting to roll over my truck. Any suggestions????? I do like this vehicle, it is what it is, atruck and I'd like to keep it a few more years but I don't want to put too much $$$$ into it. I think what started it all seemed to start with one of the door switch's, if I recall that's what started the ball rolling. Where are the door switches located and how can I quick check them. Sorry for being such a novice.:salute:

When the doors are closed do you have a door ajar light on?

No, does not come on with the doors closed:salute:

The lights will stay on for a while after you get out. How long do they stay on? Do they stay on indeffinately or go off after a while?

they will stay on and on and on. sometimes, not always the heater motor fan will also stay on.

Just for the heck of it, start your vehicle and open the doors one at a time and listen to see if they all chime when opened. You may have to roll down a window to hear the chime.

my guess is the gem module

you can get these from the junk yard for cheap and swap it and see if it helps

sorry, my troubleshooting often involves $$$
