Speaking from experience:
There is a time when vehicles cost more to maintain then a new vehicle would and are not worth the upkeep. Case in point: Splat. If I was out of school and had another DD I would have kept it, but it didn't work out that way.
If you need reliable transportation and you heart isn't superglued to the truck, I'd think about selling it and/or parting it out and getting another vehicle.
