There is a problem with my explorer sport 2001. I go about maybe 3 - 5 miles to work up a resonably long extended hill. Basically its going up a mountain on a main highway kind of thing. Anyway, the car only has like 300 or so miles on it and its new. When i push it maybe to about 70- 85 mph up this hill i turn into work and when i slow down to make the turn, the engine suddenly dies. The car doesnt turn off because my cd player is still on and everything. Im going to take it into ford but i really would like other opinions becasue i know that its not always right whtat they say. Seems like they just dont wanna waste their time sometimes. Anyways, this incident has happened twice. But if i drive it on the highway thats not up hill and dont push it to hard it doesnt do that ever. But i dont want to be making a turn or something and then it dies on me. Well any help would be awesome.

how can absolutely no one have any idea or even a guess whats going on? I dont know **** and i even have at least a guess.

Does it only die if you back out of the throttle completely? If so you may have a faulty idle air control motor.

when i brake and there is no accel then it wil die.

it looks like mrboyle is probably right. is your explorer still under warranty? if so, let the dealership fix it.

the thing is i took it in and they say nothing is wrong.

What you may have to do is take it back to the dealer (once again) and tell them what is happening. If they still claim that there is no problem, ask if it would be possibly for you to take someone on a test drive and show them what is happening, then they will have no room for excuses and have to figure out what's wrong with your X.

the thing is that i would have to drive like a total for an hour and 30 round trip and then i would have to take em up a hill at 80 miles an hour. I donno if they would do that. And then it might not even recreate the problem which i think it most liekly would.
