'03 Explorer 4.0, engine idles very smoothly and drives very smoothly.

However, when coming to a stop and taking it out of drive and putting it into reverse, engine will sometimes stumble or even stall.

Only happens occasionally though.

I have a clean air filter, new PCV valve, cleaned the MAF.

Connected my code scanner to the Explorer and the STFT (short term fuel trim) numbers were well within parameters (-2.3 upto +1.3%).

That would lead me to believe that it is not a vacuum leak.

No DTC's were in the scanner.

Same issue, jumping on the reverse/stumble bandwagon.
