well i got the bad news today that 1 of my pistons is completely fried and 2 others on the way out. i have a v6 actually v5 now. my question is how much is a new one going to cost. while this ***** is out should i swap it to a v8? i have a 94' xlt will any modifications need to be done. i am going to go up to ford to see and get a price for a new engine. im ****ed now!:fire:

Only you can decide if its worth it for you to do a 5.0L swap. Do you need what the 5.0L has to offer or will a 4.0L do? Do you have the mechanical skill to preform the swap and if not are you willing to pay the price of install? For some like myself its cut and dry but for others the answer isn't so simple.

As speedfreak said...... look at all your options. The 5.0 conversion is an indepth and costly conversion.......but it has its rewards. This section of the board has a lot of posts concerning this topic. So ya might want to take a look at what other people have done. By the way..... If you live in an area with emission testing, you would have to use a 1994 or newer 5.0 to maintain compliance.

Good Luck!

Al

thanks for your guys help but i am no mechanic strictly audio. i found a reputale guy who will rebuild my engine for 2100 labor included. im only 17 so i guess i still have a while before i can upgrade to a better engine in the future. i just had my transmission replaced and now with the engine being rebuilt **** i will have basically a new car!:)
