hey guys, i could really use your help on this one. i have been struggling lately trying to get my 1991 explorer running right for a couple months now.
the problem started a while back and was it running perfectly until it started missfiring intermittently. one second the power would be there, then in a few seconds it would go away and the same process continued over and over again until i got it home.
on a whim i replaced both the idle control motor and the tps with no results. then using this forum i successfully pulled four engine codes, 2 of them had to do with automatic transmission sensors that are no longer there because i swapped it to manual, but the other two codes were 2-1 and 2-4, which is Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor out of range and intake Air Temperature (IAT) or Vane Air Temperature (VAT) sensor out of range.
im not sure if the sensors are bad themselves or something in the wiring is loose causing the intermittent loss off power. my question is would either of these sensors cause a loss in power? i just would like to know if im on the right track. thanks, any help is appreciated.
