While doing some maintenance today, I noticed this noise and moving part which I think is the tensioner. What is it? No codes. Thanks in advance.

its a bad bearing in an idler pulley or the tensioner pulley. How many miles? Really every 100K you should do belt, idler pulleys, and the belt tensioner itself. Especially on a Ford. GM uses 2 belts, the 2nd belt is for the AC compressor alone and with electric fans the main belt doesn't have too big a load either. My explorer makes me nervous having everything including a clutch fan on one belt, bad combo!

112k miles. It's time to get that done. Thanks for the reply Joe.

So that same noise is back. I'm thinking my timing chain is worn?
