Engine noise????

There is a noise coming from my engine compartment that is very unconsistent. Although it seems to be more common after longer trips it is very hard to describe it is almost a deep moaning noise or a slow low pitched rubbing. I replaced the accessory belt because of a tear and thought that would take care of the noise but sure enough about a day later after pulling into my drivway I heard the noise and got a little deppressed I had thought I nailed it but now am back at square one . Can anyone help or have Ideas on what this might be?

When it happens again try disconnecting the IAC valve electrical connector. It is located towards the front of the upper intake plennum. I had the IAC valve cause those symtoms.

If it happens when it's hot and at idle, then it's probably the IAC. Another way to check is to take the cover off the air filter while its doing it. If the hum gets alot louder, it's the IAC. There are several threads about how to clean or R&R the IAC.
