Hey Guys, I wanted to get your thoughts on what oil to use. My '93 Explorer has 262,000 miles on it and I'm wondering if the high mileage oil (Castrol GTX) is better to use or just the regular Penzoil 10W/40. Each time I've had it changed, it's always been Penzoil. I'm on a mission to see how many more miles I can get out of this original motor. Thanks.

I wouldn't waste the money on "high mileage" oil. I would however recomend changing to 10w30 or even 5w30, unless you are running the 40w to compensate for blow by. If your engine isn't burning oil swapping to a lower weight oil can increase gas mileage and will offer the same protection. If it is burning oil, there is no magic fix, the motor is tired.
