Okay so my rear main seal is leaking..
Like between the engine and tranny
Its starting to practically run oil like water

Im prolly doing the work myself

Can i just drop te tranny and change it with the engine still in the truck?
Or should i pull the 5.0 out and do it?

Normally for a rear main seal the engine is left in and the tranny taken out.

drop the trans, and you have tones of room

thanks a ton for that pic i actually just did the job and so far so good

no leaks

you don't know how relieved i am as this was my first big engine job

i also threw some lucas engine oil stop leak to be safe

( i had tried this product before but it only slowed the leak to almost nothing but the idea of a leak still tortured my mind )

Hey James

My 2000 EB (5.0) has a pretty good oil leak (from the rear main) that I'm getting ready to fix. Thinking I may do it @ the next oil change. Already knew the transfer case & tranny will need to come out to access & fix. I've pulled many a tranny's out in my day, but they were all manuals. This will be my first auto tranny, shouldn't be much different?? Anyhow, I was wondering how long it took you to do the job??

Thanks!!
