Just had the engine replaced in my 91 Sport, within 30 days the flywheel shattered and the torque converter jambed into and busted the front pump of the tranny. I had the tranny, flywheel spacer's and converter replaced, 30 days latter the flywheel shattered again. This time i was lucky and there was no damage to the tranny. We measured all tolerances on the Crankshaft, measured here and there and everything is within factory specs. My Tranny mechanic stated (the 1st time) that it all busted loose due to an improper engine installation, Ford flywheels normally dont break or shatter. Now he is baffled as to why the flywheel busted loose again. He covered parts and labor under his warranty and is trying to get help from a Tech support site he belongs to. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this would happen?
