1999 xls 4.0 ohv

I looked into this a while ago and was told it would be cheaper to do a 5.0 swap. You will need the harness, motor, trans depending on year, and misc accessories. I think the SOHC is also a bit wider than the OHV so clearance might be a problem. I don't know if the engine bay configuration is different between the 2. I think on the 5.0 trucks, the AC housing is different to make room for the bigger motor.

On the other hand, you could take the couple of grand you would be spending and just buy some boltons and a chip to wake up that motor. I have a 2000 OHV in mine from a junkyard. In my sig you can see my boltons. If you are not going to supercharge your truck I would'nt worry about the headers. Don't expect a wow difference, but its deffinately better than before.

Same amount of trouble as the 5.0L conversion basically, however the SOHC should bolt into the truck easier then a 5.0L.

Look up Doug of Bama Chips on this forum, he has a blown SOHC in his Ranger.
