Greetings,
Had to replace the engine in my 93 XLT. Was fortunate to fine on in the pick pull that was real clean with 117k on it. What i didn't know until after i got it out that it had a cam postion sensor on it and perhaps and EGR thing on the intake near the PVC valve. I swapped the intakes no problem but my concern is, can i or do i need to take the out the CPS and install the plain oil pump drive from my other engine. I notice my current harness set up does not even have a plug for it. Let me know what you guys think.

I would strip everything down to the long block and put whatever your motor has onto it. Its what I did when I got my 95 complete motor.

Thanks, i sort of was going to do that; i was just wondering if there was some difference between that Camshaft position sensor and the plain oil pump drive. They are located in the same spot and didn't know if that CPS also has something to drive the oil pump.

I did this on my 94 explorer minus backwards. Yes you can take the Oil pump drive and put it in place of the CPS. By the way it is 10xs easier if the engine is still out. You may need to use a small pry tool to get it out I know I did.

You also need to change the exhaust manifold if it is EGR as it has a line off it to the intake. It is farily easy. It took me 3 days to swap the new engine from the ranger and put in the explorer and swap what I needed onto the explorer.

Won't hurt anything if you leave it in, which I would suggest.
