I have a 2000 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 5.0l. I am trying to locate where I can purchase a engine temperature gauge sensor. It has one wire on the connector. I am not having no luck to purchase.

Did you try Rockauto.com? They are listed under sub-category "Cooling System".

Yes all have two terminal
They all do its the connector that only has one pin installed
The extra pin is a ground so the sensor can be installed in plastic
Yours is grounded though the sensor threads in the engine

Can get them on Amazon rockauto etc

There are two temp sensors one for the dash and one for the computer

I put a coolant temp sensor in there. According to ford it's the same. The gauge is still not working. Do I have to move the wire to the other terminal?

They aren’t the same sensor. Check with a voltmeter to see if you are getting a signal out. I believe the one for the ECU is a 5 volt signal, and the dash gauge is 12 volt, but I’m not positive.

Some places call one a “sensor” and one a “sender”. You want the sender.
