Been a while since ive been on this here site! Anyway i had a cracked radiator and bought a new one. Put it on in about 2 hours no problems at all. checked, double checked, and triple checked to make sure everything was right. fill up the radiator with new fluid and ran it. On with the problem....

After running for about 5 or 10 minutes temp guage doesnt move. Take a drive down the street just to put some load under the motor. naturally the needle finally moves up to normal.... then keeps going up...... uhhh ok. so i pull it in the driveway and shut it off. turn it back on and temp guage goes to normal reading. it randomly rises and falls.

now as i see the gauge rising and falling the truck is not hot or overheating. its hot but not so much that you cant touch it. now this is where i feel stupid but as the temp needle rose so did the rpm at idle and rpm dropped as the needle dropped. not sure if that is expected.

in conclusion, i did a search and the closest thing i could get is the temp sensor on the thermostat. i'd want to verify that this could potentially be the problem? Also note that i changed the thermostat and the housing (both motorcraft) last year. Could it still be the thermostat? if anyone has any input would be great!

If you completely drain it it could be air pockets let it idle in the driveway to let the air pockets release and fill up as the pockets release if that's it

Keep the radiator cap off to and you will see it bubble up

2nd that suggestion on letting it idle with the radiator cap off. When I replaced the reservoir tank on my daughter's Mazda I had to do the something. You will actually see the air bubbles rise up and pop. If you can park with the front end slightly elevated it works a little quicker.

...with the heat on vent. Also, disconnect the battery for 15min for a re-learn.

No problem man we are all here to help each other
