i know i know. honestly, i just want the duals for looks. but i also dont want to be fake and have a dummy pipe on the other side that isnt connected. i was thinking something like running duals with smaller pipe diameter to keep similiar backspacing.
neweibly,
are you talking about putting the x-pipe BEFORE the mufflers and running 2 mufflers, or after the muffler?
Do not run true duals, run duals out of the muffler. So for the OHV (and some SOHCs), get a single in/dual out muffler, and for the SOHC get a dual in/dual out muffler.
thats what i meant. not true duals (2 mufflers). i was curious about the torque differences between a dual out muffler versus a single out and if i would want a 2.5" single out, what would its dual out diamater equal be?
i think this threads earned a spot in the "favorites" for referencing in the future.
Id personally just like to say thanks for everyones input- monday im doing the 2.5" back w/o the resonator ( i could always add one if i need to). Ill be sure to post back and let everyone know how i like it.
Keep the posting going though! I can see that ive hit a topic that others have questions about also... or WILL in the future when they're ready for some exhaust
Sticking without a resonator is a good idea with a 50 series. They are realtively quite, and probably wont resonate much anyways. Plus, you are right.... a resonator is no more than $40 to add later... so its no biggie.
I had to replace my entire exhaust system a few years ago, due to the road conditions of San Antonio. I went up to 2.5" from the collector back, with a single magnaflow. It isn't too loud, and I can still tow things nicely, though I have a 5 speed. I made him put my old tail pipe on, right where it is supposed to be. You know. Sleeper. Well when I downshift pulling up to a light, people in cars look at their eye level to see what is making that sound, and are shocked to have to look up because its a 92 explorer 4 door. I have had no probs with resonance, and my milage, horse and 0-60 all went up, be it ever so slightly.
After a while, you may regret a really loud exhaust, as it does tend to get annoying sometimes, but moslty just leads to you using more gas because your truck sounds good at 3000 rpm. Good luck with your system, and enjoy. It's been my fave mod so far.
